Tree WIP

Wow it doesn't look like much in the picture but it seems like a lot in real life.  I think I may be half done at this point.  I am so looking forward to stitching something with different colors of floss.

Progress on new Mothers Tree

This is as far as I have gotten on the Swing Tree for the current Mothers Tree project.  Stitching all in black is a new style for me and I will admit it can put me to sleep occasionally.  It is still exciting to see the tree start to appear and I am looking forward to stitching the swing.
I have never liked working with the DMC black floss - it seemed stringy and limp compared to the other DMC floss.  For this project I decided to try the new Sullivans floss.  I can't tell any difference between the two so perhaps the quality of floss is affected by the black dye.  I have heard that the Anchor floss in black is very nice so that will be my next brand to try when I need black floss.  I don't want to change floss in the middle of this though.
This is the chart I mentioned in my previous post that can be purchase HERE on Etsy.

An Old WIP

I have added six (6) and 1/2 states to my very old WIP America Land That We Love by Jean Farish.
I started this project 02-22-11.
I printed these free charts in the 1990s but the web site is no longer active.    My understanding is that these charts were eventually published in a leaflet so they are out there somewhere floating around.  At one time they could still be downloaded from the "wayback" machine but I see they have been removed.
When I posted this picture to my computer I saw that it has been 3 years since I took a progress photo of this WIP - my goodness where does the time go?

I am doing another Mothers Tree for a friend of my daughter who has a little baby girl.  She has picked a very pretty tree chart available on Etsy which I have received and printed.
CLICK HERE to see the chart on Etsy.
The fabric has been cut and the first few stitches have been done.  I am stitching this on 22 count fabric with 1 strand of floss over 1 thread.  I think I will stitch the names are over 2 threads so it won't be such a tiny column under such a wide picture.  I haven't decided how many strands of floss I will use  for the names - probably at least 3 because that's what I usually use on 14 count fabric but this will be 11 count.  It will give me plenty to puzzle over while I stitch the tree chart.

Another Mothers Tree finished

I am so sorry for the blurry picture but I think you can get an idea of how they look from this picture.
I framed the Cherry Blossom Mothers Tree for my DD and I also stitched and framed a Mothers Tree for my sister.  I will see my DD on Mothers Day so I am very happy that it's framed in time.
I don't think I can mail the other one to my sister by Mothers Day but it will be pretty close.
Note to myself regarding DMC Floss for names:
3608/3609 pink
470/936   avocado green

Mothers Day finish

I made a Mothers' Day Tree for my Mom years ago with my oldest grand daughter's name at the bottom.
When my mom died it was given to my daughter and the youngest grand daughter always asked why there was not one done with her name so I decided to make another tree this year.
I wanted it to look different so I had saved a cherry tree covered in cherry blossoms that I found years ago on a french web site and since pink is her favorite color it seemed to be perfect.
Now I just need to find a frame and get it finished before Mothers Day

Easter Finish

What a wonderful day!  I was concerned that my Easter project would not be finished until after Easter due to a brief visit from the frog.  But LOOK, I did manage to finish before Easter after all.
Wishing a great weekend and a Happy Easter to all.

Easter WIP Progress

This is moving right along and I am enjoying this project.
I had a little trouble understanding the back stitching instructions for the center but I ended up using 1 strand to backstitch the cross stitching in the letters.  I then used 2 strands to backstitch the lines that made up some parts of some letters and the swirls.
I know there are several mistakes that I have made but I really can't see them so they aren't bothering me at all.
I was going to stitch a Christmas project next but I may do a Mother's Tree for my youngest grand daughter before I start that.
I never really know what I am going to do next until it's time to start something.

Easter WIP

Here is my stitching so far on my Easter project.
I have another Christmas cross stitch project that I want to start but I am trying to finish this first.
There is also a crochet afghan pattern I want to start and that may actually happen today.
I finished a crocheted 3D baby blanket but I gave it to my daughter before I got a picture of it.
Here is a link to the pattern (which really stretched my brain muscles to figure out)

Newest WIP

This is my progress on my Easter project.  This chart is published in the Cross Stitch and Country Crafts magazine dated Mar/Apr 1996.  It's on page 5 of the magazine and it is called "Rejoice Sampler".  I hope I can finish it before Easter.

Here is a picture of what it is supposed to look like when I am finished.

Here is a picture of the cover of the magazine with the chart inside.

Bethlehem is finished ♥

I have finished the Kramer Bethlehem and it was such a fun stitch.
I am going to try and get the chart in the mail tomorrow to a lady in Maryland that I have promised it to.
I have not been able to decide what my next project will be.
I think focusing on our taxes has me so distracted I can't imagine there actually is life after taxes.
Perhaps a good night's sleep will help me chose my next stitching project.

Bethlehem WIP

I have been able to do a lot of stitching this month so I am already backstitching the little buildings of K Elaine Kramer's Bethlehem.  I think this will be finished very soon.
