XS and FW Table Finish

I finished the Coat of Many Colors so there are 3 more samplers left to finish in this booklet.  I was thinking about making a small quilt with these samplers at first but now I wonder if I could make a small book with them - plenty of time to decide how they will get finished, though.

DH found this Featherweight card table at a yard sale several weeks ago - it didn't look very happy but he thought it would clean up nicely with some work.

My goodness he does wonderful work!  The table looks brand new to me.  There is a piece of the table that lifts off and the Featherweight machine sits down in the table so the bed of the machine is level with the table top.

I really appreciate how he keeps an eye out for my favorite hobbies - cross stitching and quilting - when he is out yard sale hopping.

Happy stitch days, everyone.

Pinch Me

Look at what my dear sweet husband brought to me this morning from his yard sale travels

This little featherweight was made with a batch of serial numbers dated 02-20-1952 (model 221-1).  She is so dirty but you can tell there is some beauty hiding under that dust and grime.
My birthday is coming up soon and I couldn't have been more surprised by any gift than a second featherweight to put in my play room.
I am so excited to have a buttonholer attachment and an original manual.  This is the first time I have seen a case in person - it's not in very good shape with a split piece of wood in the bottom.
I have heard that some people have sucessfully restored the cases.
One really exciting part about this story is that the machine, buttonholer and the case were only $15.
I may just take the day off and clean and oil my new machine and worry tomorrow about whatever was originally on my to do list for the today.
It's been a little over a year since he found my first featherweight (dated 1936) for $50 which you can see here

Singer 221 Update

Today I received the cabinet for the Singer 221 Featherweight my dh got me for my birthday.

I ordered a Maple cabinet from B&D Design

DH has replaced the light socket and I need to install new feet and a new drip pan liner.  With the new feet installed it will sit perfectly in the cabinet since it wobbles a little bit with some missing feet.

One more cleaning and then I can start a new quilt for the first project with it.

Following are some more pictures of my 221 in her new home.

Here is a picture of the scrollwork on the door of the featherweight.

Happy Early Birthday to me

My birthday isn't until December but DH is an avid yard saler and he knows that I have wanted a Singer 221 Featherweight for a long time (since the early 1990s) - look what he brought home to me today (for $50 no less)  ♥  ♥  ♥.
According to the Singer site this serial number (AE216568) was made July 13, 1936.  I don't know if it works yet because I want to clean and oil it first but it is beautiful just to look at.
Oh dear, I have so many projects going but now all I want to do is play with my new toy.
