What a year

Oh my goodness, it's so good to be back stitching in my play room!

I have passed on my crochet hobby to my granddaughters.  The youngest one seems to enjoy it a lot so I am hoping she can use some of the yarn and patterns.  If not maybe she knows someone who would enjoy some of the items that do not interest her.

I am looking forward to some quilting and I started cross stitching again a couple of months ago.

I finished the second book of cross stitched bible verses and I am auditioning some quilting fabric to go with the 16 finished cross stitched patterns.

Here are pictures of my latest finishes, the books of bible verses and some possible fabrics.  Here is a link to earlier blog posts of the first book of bible verses that were finished a few years ago (it includes this post from today so just scroll down past it to see the earlier posts) - bible verses from first book

Joshua Finish and more

It feels like the last chart in this leaflet took as long as the other seven combined.  I still have the other leaflet of New Testament charts but I may not think of that until after Christmas
Thanksgiving at our house was so wonderful and relaxing.  Good food and good people are a great combination.  I can only hope that everyone enjoyed the day as much as I did.

I also wanted to share with you a crocheted yoda that my 10 year old grand daughter has finished.
She has always been a free form crocheter but now that she has learned to read patterns she wants to make all of the star wars characters in the book she has.  Lucy Collin is the designer and I believe she is coming out with a second  book of more star wars characters.

Quilt and Jonah Finish

I finished this quilt for my daughter's friend who just had a tiny baby girl. My daughter was here for a visit the last couple of days so she was able to take it with her when she left this morning.
It was so much fun to make that I almost think I should just make another one and hold onto it until another baby is born.
This quilt is called "On the Go" and it available as a free pattern HERE.

I finished stitching the Jonah sampler and started stitching the Joshua 24 sampler (the last chart in this leaflet).

The holidays will be here before I know it so I am so happy with the stitching I have finished so far this year..

Have some Happy Stitch Days.

Jonah sampler wip

I have started the Jonah sampler so after this finish there will be one more sampler from this leaflet.
I want to start some Christmas themed projects so I hope to finish these samplers before the end of the month (fingers crossed).
Have a great time stitching.

Remember the Rainbow

I just put the last stitch in the Noah Sampler and it struck me that the promise of the rainbow is a suitable theme of reflection for me on this day.

XS and FW Table Finish

I finished the Coat of Many Colors so there are 3 more samplers left to finish in this booklet.  I was thinking about making a small quilt with these samplers at first but now I wonder if I could make a small book with them - plenty of time to decide how they will get finished, though.

DH found this Featherweight card table at a yard sale several weeks ago - it didn't look very happy but he thought it would clean up nicely with some work.

My goodness he does wonderful work!  The table looks brand new to me.  There is a piece of the table that lifts off and the Featherweight machine sits down in the table so the bed of the machine is level with the table top.

I really appreciate how he keeps an eye out for my favorite hobbies - cross stitching and quilting - when he is out yard sale hopping.

Happy stitch days, everyone.

Daniel and Quilt Top Finish

I just found out that picasa web albums are being moved to google photos. Unfortunately I am not able to get to my photos at google photos because my web browser cannot be updated to their requirements.
My Windows 2000 system is not being supported by any web browser that I can find so it won't let me update to their most recent version. The online photo sharing sites I have tried to join have system requirements that I am not able to meet at this time.
I was able to load my photos to facebook so I could post them here but I fear I must get a newer machine soon.

I have finished the Daniel sampler and started on the Coat of many colors

I finished a new quilt top for our bed.  The quilt I made in 1999 is getting a bit worn out.  I was inspired by a quilt I saw on the Quilting Board which you can see here

Here is a better picture of the fabrics used in the quilt top - they came out so dark in the picture of the top above.

Edit:  I forgot to mention that the last picture is a few leftover blocks on a piece of black fabric. I think I will have enough leftover partial blocks to finish into a small lap quilt for the living room.
I normally fret for many days laying out quilt blocks and moving them around to be sure the layout is what I think is perfect but I didn't have any place to do that with this queen size top so I just started sewing them together. I can see several spots where I would kept moving blocks around so none of the fabrics were repeated next to each other. I actually like the randomness and it certainly saved more than a couple of days of fretting over the layout.

Happy days of stitching

2 WIPS and a Finish

I started Daniel in the Lion's Den from the book of Bible Samplers.
Then I was overcome by a wave of patriotism so I had to go through my stash and find a patriotic cross stitch - nothing too large so I could quickly stitch a finish, right?

I chose Little House Needleworks - Liberty.  Such a cute little chart but as you can see I am only about half way through the stitching so far.

I did spend some time putting together this patriotic quilt banner.  I was thinking of using it as a banner over the kitchen window but it may be a bit too big for that so I am in search of a better spot to hang it.

Enjoy your stitching.

Bible Story Samplers

I finished the 23rd Psalm Sampler and the Ten Commandments Sampler.
The next chart in the leaflet is Daniel in the Lions' Den but I am not sure when I will start that one.
There is so much to be done that it's hard to focus sometimes - not such a terrible thing though.
Have a great week of stitching.

A Finish and a Start

I have not quilted for a while so I pulled out this little top I did a long time ago to practice quilting before I attempt my snowman top.  This is only about 42" square so it didn't take very long - it did however convince me that I need to pull out another little top and practice some more before I quilt the snowman top.

I have a booklet of Beloved Bible Story Samplers by Leisure Arts.  You can see the booklet here.  This is the first chart I finished called Creation.  I don't know if I want to put the border on the charts so I stopped stitching it for now.  I can always finish it later or take out what is stitched of the border on this one.

I started stitching the 23rd Psalm from the same book - I only marked the border on this one.

I think these charts would make a nice quilt, too.

Have a great week of stitching.
