Green Afghan Finish

I was assembling these crocheted squares in March but I put this afghan aside to make face masks.
Today, (after sewing a bazillion loose threads for the last week) I washed the finished product.  It turned out so pretty, which was a surprise to me because I had really tired of the greens by the time I set it aside.  Now they are as pretty as the day they were picked out at the start of making them.
There is a free pattern for the square so CLICK HERE if you want to try making one.  Scroll down to the "Etched Copper Afghan".
 Keep on stitching.

More masks

I am up to 125 masks now.  I was thinking of a goal of 150 total but I only have 6 more white masks cut and ready to sew.  It's not a bad thing to have to go dig through my fabric stash except for the amount of time it takes me to decide what fabric to cut next.

Day of mask production

10 masks made in one day (05-01)!
I did have a lot of prep work done already - cutting, ironing and pinning so I didn't start from scratch.  My Singer 301 is flying through these masks.  The day went so fast.
I have made a total of 99 masks (really? - I couldn't finish just one more yesterday).  I have given away 79 masks but I am hoping for another pick up next week.
Have a great weekend, everyone, and try to work some stitching time into your days.

19 more masks

These are masks that I have made since 04-26.
I am digging through my stash to find more white fabric.
It's over 100 degrees down in the valley so I think the colorful masks may start being to hot to wear - the white fabric at least will reflect the heat more than the other colors.
If I had know how long it was going to take to make enough masks I would have started with the white fabric when I made the first mask on 04-04.
My total so far is up to 89 masks and I have a pick up scheduled for tomorrow and perhaps another one next week.
Stay cool

Masks 04-20

Here are some more masks that I have made.
I have more to make but my household chores are very neglected so I will see where tomorrow leads me.

Mask Photos

I still cannot use my google photos albums so I posted this on facebook and loaded it here from facebook

april 5 masks

April 18 Masks

I was making the pattern at P3 Designs  but now I am using the pattern on this blog:
https://patchworktimes.com/2020/04/06/mask-pattern/
I have tried a few of the patterns I found by searching on line but for various reasons I have settled on the above pattern (Judy Laquidara's tutorial at patchworktimes.com). I was mostly looking for one that seemed to go the fastest for my brain.
I started making masks on April 4th and I have made 40 so far and given away 29 of those to family.
I didn't get pictures of all of the masks but I am listing them on my mask spreadsheet.
I want to start making some for the senior center in my town but they may not need any more by the time I finish the family masks I want to make.
I don't seem to be as fast as the sewing masters that are posting their progress in the hundreds every week or even every day on some sites.
Stay healthy and safe.

Face Masks - my favorite pattern

This is my new favorite pattern for making face masks - click here
There are a couple of assembly tips that work for me:
1.  When you find the middle of each side, tack a couple of stitches to hold the center point before you press the pleat into place in step 15 and 16 so there is no need to pin the center.  With the iron I press the pleat in place and then I can sew the side without any pins.  I seem to pin myself more than the fabric when using pins, much like I iron my fingers as much as I iron fabric any more.
2.  In step 17 I do not stitch the top and bottom of the mask  (I only stitch down each side).  I use a tie that starts out at 1.5 inches and make a double fold.  I sew the tie over the raw edges at the top and bottom.
I can't seem to be able to access my google photos to show a picture right now so I will have to figure that out later

Crochet WIP Green Afghan

I have one more square to crochet before I am ready to start crocheting these squares together.
On Facebook I saw an afghan done in black and white (CLICK HERE)
I really liked the black and white but I only had shades of green Stylecraft yarn.  With only 3 squares left to do I ran out of Stylecraft yarn but I found some Caron Simply Soft to work with.  The 2 squares on the right hand side with the pale green outer border use the Simply Soft green and I had to leave out another shade of green - I have one more "off" square to make.  I don't think it's too noticeable and I think the 3 different squares will be put in 3 of the corners so maybe they won't stand out too much.
There is a free pattern for the square so CLICK HERE if you want to try making one.  Scroll down to the "Etched Copper Afghan"
I used 2 rows of 5 different colors of yarn in each square until I ran out of yarn.

The last 3 different squares only have 4 colors of yarn - starting in the center I crocheted
3 rows COLOR A
2 rows COLOR B
2 rows COLOR C
3 rows COLOR D

Finished Baby Afghan

This is the last of the Lion Brand Ice Cream yarn in Spumoni.  I used the moss stitch, or linen stitch which is such a relaxing way to crochet during football games.
I don't know what will be next but there are plenty of UFOs to work on.  That usually means I will want to start something new.
Happy days of stitching for the rest of the month to all

Quilting Finishes

I made these 2 jar quilt tops about 5 years ago.   I am so pleased that they are finally finished into quilts.  I forgot to get pictures of them before they were given to my granddaughters but my daughter kindly sent me pictures of the quilts.

I received thank you cards and it reminded me that I had not posted the pictures on my blog, yet.

Have a very merry Christmas to all who celebrate.

Baby Afghan Finish

I saw a youtube video to crochet Fiber spiders Which-Way Filet Blanket here
It's a great repeating pattern to do while watching football.  I used the Lion Brand Ice Cream yarn in Spumoni that was used for my last finish.
Happy upcoming Turkey Day.
