lady of the flag wip

This is making my heart sing even though like most of my projects it is taking much longer than I thought it would.
I did do some crocheting for a few hours this week but only because an old wip caught my eye one day so I spent my play time working on it.  I like to watch the Diamondbacks baseball games but this particular day it was not on tv but only on youtube.  Rather than move my cross stitching project from the tv room to my play room for the game I decided to crochet while I watched baseball on my computer - it just seemed easier to crochet in my play room where the computer is located.
Find time to make some happy stitches this week.

WIP Lady Of The Flag

I finished the Lady's face and I think she is so pretty.
I hope I can do a lot of stitching in the next week.
I can't believe how many beautiful (and new to me) crocheted afghan patterns I have seen in the last week, but I am determined to finish this before I pick up a crochet hook.
Happy stitching

WIP LOTF

I had a couple of visits from the frog this week but everything is ready to move forward now.
Have a great week of stitching!

WIP Lady of the Flag

I am going to try to give up crocheting for cross stitching for a while.
I was able to purchase the Mirabilia's Lady of the Flag chart when it was re-released earlier this year.
I am stitching this on Picture This Plus fabric (Jay).  I was thinking of stitching a conversion that was done in blues but the fabric is really too purple to look right with the blue floss color changes so I am stitching it with the original floss colors.
I have decided I do not want to use the beads so I made the following substitutes for the beads:

MH 02001 → DMC 3047
MH 02019 → DMC 30745
MH 02022 → DMC 5283
MH 03015 → DMC 35200
MH 03050 → DMC 5279

I still want to stitch the blue conversion but I have not decided on what fabric to use for that and I don't know if the beads will work with the conversion - I am not going to puzzle over that while I stitch the original colors.

Finish Temp Blanket #2

This one turned out to be 39" x 72" so I wish I had started with a little bit longer chain.  Of course I would not have had enough of two colors of the yarn so I think it has turned out to be exactly what it was supposed to be.
Have a wonderful week of stitching.

WIP Temp Blanket #2

I am almost half way through the year.  I started with December 31 (left side) and I am up to July 11 (right side).  Starting with a chain of 224 makes this 38" wide.  So far it is 30.75" high, which is actually showing as left to right in this photo.
I can't believe how much faster this stitch is than the first one I did.  I am still thinking about what kind of border to add but I have plenty of time to decide.
Happy stitching.

Wip Temp blanket #2

I have started my second temperature blanket.  This time I chained 224 and I am doing each day with the moss stitch.  Instructions for the moss stitch can be seen here.  I am 5 days short of doing the first 3 months (I started with December 31 for the first row) and so far it measures 14 3/4".  I don't think this will be much bigger than the first one I did.  This is going so much faster - there are half as many stitches each row since every other one is just a chain stitch.  I am using the same yarn colors which can be seen here.
Enjoy your stitching time

XS Finish

I won this Sue Hillis chart in a drawing on the 123 Stitch message board.  I was so excited when it arrived last Friday because I was finished with the Temperature Blanket and I was ready for some cross stitching.
And no wonder I was ready - this is my very first cross stitching finish for 2019 so I had to make a folder for all of my 2019 cross stitch pictures.
Happy stitching!

Temp Blanket Finish

I have finished the Temperature Blanket for my granddaughter's graduation.  It finishes at 45" x 61.5".
I am ever so pleased with how it turned out - especially that it is not overly large.
I am planning the next one for my other granddaughter.  I am thinking of using a moss stitch for the next one.  This stitch goes by many names including the linen stitch, woven stitch, and granite stitch.  I will have to do a swatch first to see if I can approximate the finished size.

This (click here) is the inspiration for the crocheted edge on the blanket.
Scroll down to see a candy cane crochet border, which uses 2 colors.
I modified it for 8 colors by chaining 10 and skipping 7 instead of one for my border.

Temperature Blanket

I am on December 8 (right side of picture) so the year is almost finished.  It is 47.5 inches wide so far and the length is 42.25 inches.  I am still quite puzzled by what sort of border I am going to do so I am hoping that eureka moment will hit me very soon.
I have a new idea about how I may do the next temperature blanket but no definite plan as yet.
Happy stitching to all.

WIP Temp Blanket

I am starting the row for July 1st so I am half way done with this.  I love the way the colors are changing.
I am doing another one with the same colors but I am now thinking they will look so much alike.  Perhaps I should reverse the colors so that the Royal Blue is 90+ and the Bright Pink is below 30.  I think of blue as a cool color and pink as a warm color, though.
I can always put different borders on them so they don't look so much alike.
I have plenty of time to decide as I finish crocheting this one.
Enjoy your stitching.

Temp blanket WIP

I am on the row for April 29th today and it is 16 1/2 inches long so far.
The recipient was born in April - instead of single crochet in the back loop for that day's row I did a double crochet row so that day will be different from the other rows.
Sorry for the dark picture but it is a gloomy day.  We are expected to receive 25-33 inches of snow by Friday night so even though the sun is just coming out it is a bit cloudy.
I hope my next WIP photo will show how pretty the colors of yarn really are.
Happy Stitching
