Stocking Progress

I need to finish the toe and then backstitch this portion of the stocking and it will be done.
A very dear friend died on 09-12-2013 and it was very sad news for us.  I have discovered that in addition to stitching bringing much joy and relaxation, it also keeps the sadness at bay.

I have been following another stitcher working on a Christmas stocking and she said she is "already beginning to feel a bit melancholy at the thought of not stitching my angel . . ".  I feel that same sense as I near the end of one of my favorite stitching projects.  Visit Riona's blog by CLICKING HERE to see her beautiful Christmas stocking project she is sharing with blog land.

WIP and a contest for you to enter

I have run out of a couple of floss requirements so I am again doing some backstitching.  I placed my on line order yesterday so it should be here before I need it.
I will have to turn the scroll bars to get to the very bottom of the chart.  I so  am dreading verifying how accurately I have cut the fabric - but I was so very careful surely all will be good.

We did get to visit with family not once but twice.  The grand daughters are growing so fast and they are so nice and very bright.

I found a new to me blog this morning - Stitchey Stuff.  Mary is celebrating her blogaversary by having a drawing for her followers.  Click HERE to find out you can enter and win a $20 gift certificate to 123 Stitch.

WIP Pic

I have felt a cold coming on this week so I am really impressed with the amount of stitching I accomplished while I ignored any symptoms that might cause discomfort.

The grandchildren might visit for a little while this weekend so we will see how much stitching gets done over the holiday weekend.

Have a very fun and safe Labor Day Weekend.

Still stitching away

Last Sunday I finished the back stitching for the top half of the Christmas stocking that I am working on.  I am always amazed at how much the back stitching adds to the look of the cross stitching.

Now that most of the top half is rolled up in the scroll bars I can stitch the remainder of the stocking - this is my progress since Sunday.

2 weeks of stitching

I missed a weekly update but the back stitching makes time stand still for me so I didn't realize the days were flying by.
I am hoping that a couple (few) more days of back stitching will allow me to turn the scroll bars and return to the cross stitching.
Labor Day will be here before I know it so have a great weekend if you celebrate and in case I get lost in my project again.

Progress for the week

The weather is much improved over last week as you can see by the little stitching progress I have to show for this week.
I know I was planning to do more back stitching but I didn't feel like it so I continued with the pattern.  I have reached the bottom scroll bar on the left side so I can't put off the back stitching for very much longer.

Another week of Stitching

We have been having some impressive monsoon storms this last week so with my computer unplugged, I find I get a lot more stitching done.
I am going to do some more backstitching before I get too much farther down this design - it's almost time to turn the top part under the scroll bars

Progress on my Stocking

I haven't stitched every day so I think this is pretty good progress - there's a lot left to do, though..
The other Christmas Stocking I stitched was a big project for me so I decided to do the back stitching as I went along - it was so nice to be done when I got to the bottom of that stocking that I will do the same with this stocking.

Quilting Gallery Entry, Voting and Giveaway

I entered my Memorial Day Mistake quilt shown to the left in this week's Patriotic themed contest at the Quilting Gallery.
There are some very beautiful quilts entered so click here to see the entries and vote for your favorite before Monday.

You also have until Monday, July 8th, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. (EDT) to enter a give-away on that blog post by answering:   Have you started your Christmas quilts yet? If so, what are you making?
I cut the pieces to make Judy Laquidara's 2010 Memorial Day Challenge main block but then I put the pieces together wrong. So . . . I chose a different alternate block and a simple border to finish My Memorial Day Mistake.
I didn't follow the directions very well to put the first block together but if you want to see what my quilt was supposed to look like CLICK HERE to visit Judy Laquidara's blog.  Judy has a lot of wonderful quilt patterns that she has designed and generously shares with her readers - just click on the Free Patterns link on the top of her blog.
I have made Judy's Out of the Bag pattern and there are several more of her patterns that are on my To Do List.

Another WIP started 06/27/13

This is my newest cross stitch project.
I saw a finish on the 123Stitch message board and it reminded me that I had this in my stash so I was immediately motivated to start another WIP.
This is "O Holy Night" from Donna Kooler's Ultimate Stocking Collection.

Here is what it is supposed to look like when I finish it.  I am using the recommended DMC floss and 14 count Navy Aida fabric.
I decided to put "Holy Night" at the top instead of personalizing it with someone's name.
I am also using a table top frame that my husband found at a yard sale for me.  I love it - it's actually an F.A. Edmunds Scroll Frame with adjustable lap stand but after drilling a couple more holes it works perfectly for me while it sits on the dining room table.

A finish for me

This is a finish I did for a friend with three grandchildren (I have blocked their names and statistics).
The booties are a chart she picked from  Linen Flowers.
The fabric is 16 count dirty aida.
