Carrot flatbread

I tried a recipe for Carrot flatbread yesterday. CLICK HERE for a link to the web site where I found the recipe - scroll down the page to the third recipe - .Carrot flatbread
I loved this flatbread because it is gluten free and I had long ago given up trying different gluten free bread recipes - they seemed to ruin the sandwich I was trying to eat. I don't mind eating my sandwich filling wrapped in lettuce or cabbage leaves but I really do prefer bread.
The plus was that they make the perfect size slices for the quinoa patties we had for lunch.
We have been eating quinoa patties for years instead of hamburger patties and now I am using low/no salt ingredients to make them.
It was a very yummy lunch.

Cowboy Snowman Finish

Here is my finish of the cowboy snowman for July.  It took a bit longer than the other snowmen I have done but I think he was worth it.
I am going to do the August snowman next because it's a baseball player and opening day is almost here.
I still have to remember to go back and stitch the June snowman, which is a graduate.
Happy stitching this week

July Snowman WIP

I don't know why I pulled the July Snowman out to do next but it's going a bit slower than the other ones that I have finished - there seem to be a lot more 1/4 stitches in this month.  It's still very fun, although I am not sure what a cowboy has to do with July.  We have our rodeo in August but I suppose other places can have them anytime in the summer.
I will go back to June graduate when I finish this July cowboy.

May Snowlady finish

I have finished the May Snowlady but I "may" have lost the pastel spring feeling by choosing blues that are a bit too dark.  Someone suggested using green instead of blue and I think I might have been happier with that color.
Eek, I just realized that I forgot to backstitch the eyes with black floss so I need to get that done.

The June snowman is mostly black and white for a graduate so I think I will skip that month for now and move on to July, which is a very colorful cowboy.

Happy Stitch Days

April Snowlady finish

Ugh, February was all about the flu in our happy home.  Luckily we are pretty much back to normal now.  I feared a relapse so I have not yet returned to full activity regarding household chores.
This has allowed me to finish the April Snowlady that I started just before the germs hit.
Today I am going to start the May Snowlady.  She is the one I considered skipping for now due to the pink/orange/yellow ribbons.  I decided it was the pink and orange combination that seemed to be unsettling to me so I have changed out the shades of orange for shades of blue - well except for the carrot nose of course.
Good health and happy stitching to all.

March Snowman is finished

Here is Mr. March and I think he is so cute.
I am going to start the April Snowman this afternoon but with the big game tomorrow and a self imposed deadline for doing the taxes I fear April may take a bit longer than this one did.

Happy Stitching to all.

Snowmen Feb Finish and Mar WIP

I have finished the February Snowman from Vermillion Stitchery and also have a bit of a start on the March Snowman.
These are so much fun to stitch and thank you for the suggestions I have received about changing colors when I get to the May snowman - pink/yellow/orange would not be a fun stitch for me.
Lucky me!  After a bit of digging in my fabric stash I found the piece of light blue fabric with colorful stars on it.  I haven't figured out if there is enough of it to put borders on all 12 snowmen yet, though.
I hope you can find stitching time with the NFC/AFC playoff football games going on this weekend.

Snowman WIP

I came across a picture of a January Snowman that I stitched a few years ago and it reminded me that I always wanted to finish the other 11 Snowmen.
This is the February Snowman from Vermillion Stitchery.
I may skip the May snowman and move on to the others.  May is mostly pink and yellow and there is something about that color combination that almost makes me feel a little nauseous.  I will have to change the color combination which is not a quick decision for me.  I don't want that to slow me down so I think I will save May until the final snowman.  I am thinking of keeping the pink and changing the yellows to blues but I have a few months to decide if that's my final answer.

The website is no longer up so I am not sure where the charts can be obtained.

Here is a picture of the January snowman that I stitched a few years ago.

Happy Stitch Days to all.

2016 1st Finish

Yay!  I have my first finish for 2016.
May I present Flight to Egypt stitched on black 18 count aida.
I stitched the star with dmc white (B5200) instead of the shiny metallic suggested with the chart.
I am getting a little better working with the metallic floss but the white stands out enough for me on the black fabric.
Have a wonderful week of stitching.

Flight to Egypt WIP

I didn't stitch very much in December but there is a little progress on my current Flight to Egypt wip.

Happy New Year to all and may you find many hours of stitching in the new year.

Thanksgiving and WIP

This is our Turkey Breast from last Sunday.  We carved up the turkey before we roasted it with guidelines found on line here.  It was the most wonderful moist turkey breast I have ever served.  The dark meat pieces were also very moist.  The best part was that while I brined the breast roll, legs, thighs and main wing pieces,  I roasted the back pieces to get some dark brown scrapings for the gravy and simmered the giblets and wing tips for the turkey broth.  Now, I didn't have to wait until the turkey was done roasting to start the gravy.   Last Sunday was the most delightful day of family, food and fun but I will admit I have been mostly resting/trying to stay awake for the last few days.

I haven't stitched very much lately but I hope to spend some time today on my wip.
Here is a picture of my progress so far as well as a picture from the leaflet of what it is supposed to look like.

Have a wonderful month of Christmas.

Pinch Me

Look at what my dear sweet husband brought to me this morning from his yard sale travels

This little featherweight was made with a batch of serial numbers dated 02-20-1952 (model 221-1).  She is so dirty but you can tell there is some beauty hiding under that dust and grime.
My birthday is coming up soon and I couldn't have been more surprised by any gift than a second featherweight to put in my play room.
I am so excited to have a buttonholer attachment and an original manual.  This is the first time I have seen a case in person - it's not in very good shape with a split piece of wood in the bottom.
I have heard that some people have sucessfully restored the cases.
One really exciting part about this story is that the machine, buttonholer and the case were only $15.
I may just take the day off and clean and oil my new machine and worry tomorrow about whatever was originally on my to do list for the today.
It's been a little over a year since he found my first featherweight (dated 1936) for $50 which you can see here
